About Me

Hi there!

My name is Hayley and I’m currently senior at the University of Wisconsin-Madison pursuing a degree in journalism and and trying my hand at learning Russian. I’m originally from the suburbs of Minneapolis, but I’m proud to call Madison my new home (go Badgers!).

I currently serve at editor-in-chief at UW’s own independent, student-run newspaper, The Badger Herald. In my time at the Herald I’ve written more than 100 articles and have received national attention for my news coverage. A complete list of my work can be found on the Herald’s website.

As a journalist, I tell stories. Whether it is through a traditional news article or a storm of tweets, I strive to use words and multimedia to tell those stories effectively and creatively. Communication is my passion. As a multi-linguist, I understand the importance of words and the weight they carry; as a social media enthusiast, I know even just 140 characters can pack a heavy punch.

When not consumed by school work or the Herald, I work as a public engagement and marketing assistant at the Wisconsin Center for Investigative Journalism. At the Center I track and analyze content performance and work closely with the Center’s investigative reporters to recommend the best way to promote their stories on social media.

This website is dedicated to my professional work, creative projects and whatever happens to be running through my mind on any given day. Your thoughts and feedback are more than welcome, I only ask that you keep them respectful and appropriate.
